It takes up to 10 working days from joining to prepare your line for broadband. We'll send you the connection pack before it's ready. Just follow the simple instructions to set it up.

Is there a contract?

Yes, there's a 12 month contract with all our broadband packages. With Broadband Starter you can cancel within 30 days from the date your line is activated if you're not happy. If you don't cancel within the first 30 days you'll be in a 12 month contract from the date your line is activated.

Do I need a home phone line?

Yes. Any provider except cable (Telewest or NTL) and Kingston Communications is fine.

What if I already have a broadband modem?

You'll need to use the Livebox modem which we'll send you with Broadband Plus and Broadband Max. Starter comes with a standard USB modem but you can use your own instead.

What if I have more than one computer I'd like to connect to broadband?

With Plus and Max you get a wireless capable modem and can connect up to six computers to broadband.

Is broadband available in my area?

What affects broadband speed?

How far you live from the exchange, the quality of your phone line and wiring, the type of modem you use and even the time of day.

How do I pay for broadband?

You can pay by Direct Debit, Visa, Mastercard, Delta card or American Express.

What does my computer need?

Windows 98 or later and a CD-Rom drive. For Broadband Plus and Broadband Max you also need an Ethernet port and for Broadband Starter you need a USB port.

Does broadband work with Apple Macs?

Apple Macs with OS X can be set up manually to get broadband. Our wireless adaptor isn't compatible with Apple Macs but if you pick Broadband Plus or Broadband Max you should be able to connect to the Livebox using your AirPort.

We provide technical support if you use an Apple Mac with OSX, but only for Broadband Starter, not for Broadband Plus, Broadband Max or Livebox, sorry.

What is a broadband filter?

You need to plug broadband filters into all your phone sockets (including the one for your Sky box) to avoid interference when you make phone calls. We give you two free and the option to buy more at £4.99 each when you join.

How do I keep my computer secure when I'm online?

We give you McAfee Privacy Service with parental controls free. It protects you from offensive content and keeps your personal information safe from hackers. You can download it for free from our Communicate Channel after you've joined. You also get a 20% discount on McAfee Internet Security Suite.
